The Journey 17: Transforming my work place/school
Read: Numbers 13
It is said that both in American and Indian industries, if there is an issue with regards to a particular project, or a product, the manager who handles it comes under heavy criticism. He and his team are often blamed, because the people have criticized the product or the project. But in Japan, if the same thing happens, the team and the manager is not blamed on the other hand the management and the team decide that they need to work in a different way or bring about changes in the product or the project so that it is feasible to the consumers. Two groups handling the same issue, but the approach so different. No wonder it is this small country Japan who is the largest producer of the latest electronic products
In the biblical portion there is a challenge between two groups of people. When Moses sent one group of people to explore the land that they should capture the group of people believed that the “ the people in the land, are stronger than they are and that their cities are fortified and very large [ Number 13: 28]. But Caleb tells Moses that even if the people are stronger and even if they have fortified cities ‘ We should go up and take possession of the land” and then he says his faith through the statement “ We can certainly do it”. [ Num 13: 30]. Here are two groups of people who look at the challenges of life in two different perspective. One though a member of a chosen generation cannot perceive what trust and faith in God can do while the Caleb knows, God is on their side and hence every crisis or problems or challenges in life is an opportunity to trust in God and to work along with God to bring about change and transformation. His firm conviction was that “The Lord is with us. Do not fear them”[Num. 14:9; Rom. 8:31,37). What makes difference in our work place and in our school is our approach to challenges and crisis in life. Do we become pessimistic when we encounter those challenges or do we become optimistic because of our faith and trust in God.
God is along side us……..There are no mountains too high for us to climb this day.
Let us Pray:
Dear Lord thank you for the mountains and the valleys in our life. Help us never to loose focus in our life that when you are there with us obstacles can become opportunity of transformation. Amen
