GOD WITH US
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a
sign: the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call
him Immanuel (Isaiah 7:14)
Christmas is the supreme revelation of God.
God revealed as Immanuel. Immanuel means “God is with us.” God’s
dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them
(Rev.21:3) It is a symbolic name which
appears in Isaiah chapters 7 and 8.In the gospel of Mathew he quoted it as a
sign verifying the divine status of Jesus. The truth proved by this sign is
that he is the son of God and mediator between God and man. It is a mysterious
and precious name for us. Christmas brings a time of peace and joy. In the
past God revealed himself in various ways. But Christmas by his son whom he
appointed heir of all things, the radiance of God’s glory and the exact
representation of his being has spoken to us who he is. Through Jesus Christ
the permanency of God is with us forever. God is with us for what?
God is with us for his mercy to us: Man is an insignificant being. God’s loving
care and mercy make us valuable. In the museums many old things such as used
pens, dresses, shoes etc. are exhibited for the visitors to see. Now a days
the value of such ancient things are not great. But the value and importance
of such materials are to whom they belong to. The importance and value of man
depends upon to whom he belongs to. Christmas is a door of God’s blessings and
his great mercy opened to the humanity through Jesus Christ to make us
valuable.
God is with us for his witness: The primary duty of man is to witness God.
Christ send us to become his witness.” Go and make disciples of all nations,
and surely I am with you always to the very end of the age “(Matt.28:20).God
is with us to make us his victorious witnesses .In Christmas God is with us.
Are we really with Him?
Prayer: Lord,
make us worthy to receive your mercy so that we may overcome the evils with
good and become your witnesses wherever we are. Amen
