Feeling the Touch of Christ
“I will praise you, Lord. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me.” (Isaiah 12:1)
This passage is a reflection of the children of Israel and their response to the God of forgiveness after their bondage in Egypt. There was a time in which the Israelites faced bondage and captivity where the touch of God felt at a distance due to their actions and choices. Although God had been angry towards the Israelites, they eventually experienced the comfort and forgiveness of a God who had never left them and remained their salvation throughout the difficulties that they faced. This left them in utter praise of the God who takes care of His children and will draw water from the wells of salvation for those He calls His own.
I remember growing up under the watchful eye of my father. He was one that loved me dearly and did anything for his little girl. There was one time I got into a fight with my sisters which became loud and this angered my father and he disciplined us for our poor actions. Although my father was angered and I felt a distance from my father, I knew it is the same father that would leave all that he is doing to take care of me when I needed him the most. This kind of love is reflective of our own Father in heaven.
There are times in our life that we make decisions in our life that create a separation from God and rightfully so, our God can be jealous and even angry towards decisions that we make. Yet, the same God is one that never leaves us and gives us comfort even if we are sinful creatures. The touch of Christ is one that is experienced by those who have been graced with salvation. Because He is a loving Father despite our sinfulness, it should lead us to praise Him for the way that He loves us and never forsakes us. We as a community of believers has a tremendous amount of blessings to praise Him for, so let us take the time to remember all that He has done in our lives even when we did not deserve it.
