One Path Before Me
Jesus
answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through me. (John 14:6)
In
the verse above Jesus paints us a picture. A picture of a straight path
that leads us to our heavenly Father and Jesus standing at the road side,
waiting to take us by our hands and lead us to the end of the path.
Today
we live in a world where high schools are more of a gate way to drug abuse and
alcoholism rather than a safe haven to gain knowledge, a world where
universities/colleges preach atheism rather than the beauty and understanding
of God’s creations. We live in a world where kindness is seen as weakness and
arrogance a merit, a corporate world where your success is measured in terms of
the number of people you have thrown under the bus and used as a stepping stone
to your career. A world where starting a married life and a family of your own
is seen as a hindrance to your career. But most of all we have built a world
where our youth are presented with numerous paths and no moral grounds on which
they can base their decisions.
So,
the way I see it, the picture that Jesus painted for us is one of the most
beautiful assurances that he has given us. He offers us one path to take and
assures us that he will take us through safely. He also reminds us that the
only way to get to that room he has built for us on the other side of the path
(John 14:2) is by trusting everything to him and knowing that his plan for us
is greater than any plans or expectations we may have.
Prayer: Thank You Lord for all
the possibilities you have given me in this world. Give me the strength and
wisdom I need to take your hands and trust you to lead me through life,
especially in times of trial and temptation. In a world that pulls me away from
your trust please give me the endurance to follow you closely and lead the way
for others who might be lost. Amen.
Thought
of the day:
Follow Christ on the path he built for us and others will follow.
