Making impossible, possible
Psalm 84
“Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you” (14)
Psalm 84 is a
chapter that is applicable to this theme and also very unique. In verse 2
it says, “My soul yearns, even faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and
my flesh cry out for the living God.” In our daily lives we face
challenges that seem so huge to overcome. Whether these challenges arise
in our schools or workplaces, it can make us question if we can overcome the
situation at hand. This verse is important because in big or small
challenges or situations we should always be yearning for God’s guidance.
We should always be calling out to God to help us because we always need
Him. Things that seem impossible to us we already know is possible with
God; He is trying to get us to seek Him and make our ‘impossible’ possible.
Verse 4 goes
on to say “Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising
you.” A lot of times in our lives we tend to come to God when we are in
need of His help. We constantly ask God for guidance or for something
that we feel we need to happen in our lives. When God grants us what we
have been asking for we praise and thank Him for his goodness and then after
some time we tend to forget what He has done. The verse says, ‘they are
ever praising you’. Not sometimes, but they are ever praising which means
not stopping. We must always be in constant praise of God’s goodness and
grace in our lives. Obviously it is hard to remember sometimes what
happened even yesterday but the point of the verse is that we shouldn’t forget
how good God has been to us and is continuing to be. We should always
remember to thank Him and praise Him at any opportunity we are able to.
The situations
we deem impossible and God makes possible for us I feel are the moments in life
we do find memorable. As humans we always seem to doubt God’s power for
whatever reason. Even when He blesses us and helps through a tough
situation, the next time a tough situation comes around we seem to wonder how
we will get out of this one. We must always remember that impossible does
not exist in God’s dictionary. The Psalm ends with the verse, “Lord
Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.” A fitting way to end
this piece because it shows how one can be favored if they but always trust in
God. We must strive to live our lives without any hesitation because God
is always by our side. That’s not to say we will never face hardships or
come across ‘impossible’ situations but if we put our trust and faith in God,
He will always see us through. Adidas’ famous slogan is ‘Impossible is
Nothing.’ With God to lead us and to lean on, there could not be a more
definitive statement to use in our lives.
Prayer: Lord, give us the grace to trust in you
always, Amen
