Making the Impossible Possible
“So you
are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has
made you also an heir.” (Galatians 4:7)
In this passage, Paul describes the children of God as being heirs. Paul
also refers to the elementary principles, which is the Law of Moses in which
Christ came to redeem those who were held captive in slavery. We can
think of the law as being the guardian that we are entrusted to when we are
young in our faith. The guardianship of the law protects us and builds a
foundation for us to grow and become mature. Just as we are protected by
our parents as children, the law also protects us and teaches us
obedience. It is an important stepping stone for our growth. But as
we grow in our faith and begin to have a relationship with the Lord, we are no
longer bound by the guardianship of the law but instead through God’s grace we
are given the full rights of sons as God’s children through His spirit. Paul
reminds us in Ephesians 2:8-9: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through
faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so
that no one can boast.” What an amazing gift!
Through His death, burial, and resurrection Christ has made the impossible
possible for those who believe and are obedient to Him. The law is
necessary because it leads us to Christ. But once we are in Christ, we are no
longer slaves to the law. We are justified by faith and have freedom in
Christ. The cross was enough for us to know that we cannot depend on the
law to save us. Our imperfections are made perfect through knowing Christ
and having a relationship with Him. Because of who Christ is, and what He
has done for us, we are who we are in Him. He has made it possible for us
to have a relationship with Him, and get to know Him in a deeper and personal
way. We have the opportunity to approach our Father at any time, no
matter where we are in life. Most importantly, the impossible has been
made possible through the gift of salvation for those who are in Christ.
This gift has been offered to us freely, with no strings attached. It is
up to us to accept this gift along with the awesome privilege and
responsibility that comes along with it of loving God and sharing the
gospel.
Prayer: Lord I thank you for making the
impossible possible through your son Jesus. Help me to walk with you
daily and live for you. Amen
