Word for the day by Christian Education Forum
A life with a message
“For you created my inmost
being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb”.
"I praise you because I
am fearfully and wonderfully made...(v. 14)" We go through each day
pressing towards a goal, whether it be in the workplace, education, or personal
life -- we are all trying to become this image of ourselves that we perceive in
our minds. But here David states, we are already fearfully and wonderfully
made. That God has seen us with His eyes even before we were formed in our
mother's womb. Praise God for that! Because the burden of trying to be
something is taken off our shoulders, God has already formed us, not just
plainly, but wonderfully. As Christians, we know this truth.
We know that God has formed
us, has a plan for us, and wants to guide us to be the vessel he wants us to
be. But what happens? We get so caught up in the world around us, we start
forming our own image of who we should be. We try and hide from God, avoid His
plans, turn our ear from His voice. David proclaimed "If I go up to the
heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there (v.
8)," therefore, we too must realize that God's presence is always with us.
God will never forsake us. Even when we fail, when we try and run away -- God is
still there waiting with open arms. His presence is everlasting. As the
year comes to an end many workplaces undergo an evaluation of this past years
progress, to see what the company, what each individual employee has made of
themselves. We are eager to see what our boss has to say about us, what
the experts have to say about the company. But as Christians, are we eager to
hear what God has to say about us? In the depths of our hearts can we truly say
that God's thoughts are precious to us? (v. 17)
We strive for approval and
hear what others have to say about us because we value their opinion, but do we
consider worthy the thoughts of Our Maker? As we reflect on this past
year, no matter what situation came our way, did we portray God's glory through
our lives at all times? Can we earnestly ask God to search our hearts and
examine us? We are sinners, yet God still loves us with an unconditional and
unfailing love. So when we feel hopeless and unworthy, let us remember that it
is GOD who created us, and he created us fearfully AND wonderfully. So let us
boldly ask God to search every part of our hearts and the thoughts of our
minds. But do not stop there -- just as David prayed, let us also join with him
and ask God to "see if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in
the way everlasting (v. 24)." Let us strive to be the wonderful creation
He has intended for us to be.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I
thank you and praise You for crafting us with so much love and care, creating
us to reflect Your perfect image. Amen.
Thought of the day: When we look in the
mirror, do we see the fearfulness and wonder God poured into us when He
created us?
