JESUS CHRIST –THE HOPE OF SALVATION
“And by
that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus
Christ once for all” Heb.10:10
The epistle to
Hebrews portraits Jesus as the great High Priest in the line of Melchizedek. He
performed the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world. Epistle writer shows
us the beauty of Jesus through whom Father God created away of salvation. Wages
of sin is death (Rom 6:23) Entire humanity has become sinful as Adam the first
man became sinful. We see through-out the scriptures that it was even from
eternity under God’s divine plan to bring His precious people whom He made in
His own image back to the Maker. The first sin wrought the moral ruin of the
race, death became universal, judgment came to all humanity and this state is
declared to be our inheritance from Adam.
God gave special
laws through Moses to His people which included and required yearly
sacrifices.Reality and purpose of sacrifices did not make man to total
surrender to a great God. In God’s miraculous plan for humankind Hesends His
only son Jesus Christ. Jesus became the mediator of the new covenant by means
of death for the redemption of the transgressions that those who are called may
receive the eternal inheritance .The heavenly sanctuary was purified with a
better sacrifice (Lev.16:33).“For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes
of a heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh,
how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered
Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve
the Living God. And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant by
means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first
covenant , that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal
inheritance” (Heb 9:13-15).
“Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more and where these have
been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary” (Heb.10:17-18). As
believers “let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering for He who
promised is faithful, and let us consider one another in order to stir up love
and good works” (Heb.10:23-24). Let us (a) believe in Christ Jesus who took a
humble birth, a cruel death yet risen and carried all our sins far away, (b)
confess our sins knowing He is indeed just to forgive us,(c) wait patiently
here on earth but eagerly and with lighted Spirit/oil in our lamps.
Prayer: Dear father God, how Great and Awesome
You are? Thanks to You for the gift of salvation through perfect sacrifice Your
Son Jesus Christ. Forgive my sins, I‘ll never know how much it cost to see my
sins upon that cross. Amen.
Thought
of the Day: The
one sacrifice of the new covenant is superior to the many sacrifices of the
Old.
