Resurrection
– Hope for the New Life
“We remember that while he was still
alive that deceiver said “After three days I will rise again”(V.63)
Resurrection brings renewal and new
beginnings. In the midst of despair and fear, resurrection brings hope. Hope
gives life as Christ rescues us from sin by the power of his Resurrection.
The source of eternal life for a true believer is Jesus Christ the Son of
God. The life of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, did not end in death but it
continued through resurrection. The resurrection of Christ ensures us the
assurance and hope that those who live in Christ will rise at the second coming
of Jesus Christ. The resurrection of our Lord is glorious in contrast with his
humiliation.
The tomb is empty contrary to the
precautions of His enemies: As we can see from the above passage, despite
the best efforts of the enemies, Jesus Christ’s death, burial, resurrection and
ascension in to heaven gives us, His children, the eternal hope. Christ was
delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification. Although
the guard made the tomb as secure as humanly possible, Jesus rose from the dead
as He has promised and became victor over death. Where there is hope, there is
life. The tomb is empty because our Savior, the Almighty Son of God cannot be
contained in an earthly tomb. The Tomb is empty because “He is Risen”, which
brings us newness, renewal and eternal hope.
Resurrection transforms us to be
witnesses: Resurrection made the believers victors rather than victims. The
events of crucifixion frightened the people, but resurrection revealed Jesus as
the God of power and might who have overcome the forces of evil and death.
Resurrection made the believers victors rather than victims and empowered
believers to become witnesses.
Resurrection transformed the tomb into
tabernacle: Tomb, the site of death and fear became the site and source of
life. Those who crucified Jesus thought that His life came to an end by the
tomb. But, Jesus rose from the dead and the tomb became the meeting point of
the risen Lord with faithful ones. The meeting point of the Savior with His
believers is the place of worship; thus the tomb became a tabernacle, the place
of worship.
By the empty tomb, the risen Lord is
exhorting each one of us “Come and See” and “Go and Tell” the good news.
Let us renew and re-dedicate ourselves to be the witnesses of His
resurrection and hope. Are you willing to share the good news? Do you have the
eternal hope?
Prayer: Thank you Father for your Son Jesus
Christ, the risen Lord. Oh Lord enable us to be witnesses of your cross and
resurrection in a meaningful way and thank you for the eternal hope for new
life. Amen.
Thought for the Day: By His
Resurrection Jesus Christ conquered death and gave His children the eternal
hope. We are victors and not victims.
