Celebration of the Sacrament of Marriage
Hebrews 13:1-6

1 Let mutual love
continue.
As believers in Christ, we are all called to “live the life of love” (Ephesians 5:2). Living in a world with material pleasures and temptations, our faith is challenged daily. Christ’s commandment however is to “…love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.” (John 13:34) This pushes us to extend that love to everyone we meet, strangers and friends alike. Through this extension of love, we will experience unity with each other. So many of us are challenged with this in our work and school environment. How many of us really try to love the unlovable and the people that we don’t get along with. Do we try to emulate the perfect and unconditional love that Jesus exemplified in his life? We need to ask God for the grace and mercy to be able to do that in our own lives.
Marriage is a sacred sacrament that God himself has established. It needs to be respected and up held according to God’s laws and not by how the world and the media portray it. There must be a mutual love and respect between a husband and wife based on the love of God.
Finally, in this passage, it shows that we as Christians can be confident in knowing that God is in control and that He will never leave a person who belongs to Him. No matter what difficulty and challenges face us, God will find a way through for us. He has a wonderful promise for us; to lead us, to guide us and to guard us. What an amazing God we have!
