Healing and Wholeness

3 ‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore
I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me,
which I did not know.
Recently in NYC, there was a senseless fatal shooting of two NYPD officers. The shootings were said to be one man's retribution for the unrelated deaths of other high profile shootings in NY and Ferguson, MO. One of the officers, Rafael Ramos (40) was an active member of his church and studying to go into ministry after retirement. He was married with two sons. The other, Officer Wenjian Liu (32) was a newly wed, married for just 2 months. Both were fatally shot while sitting in their patrol car. Countless New Yorker's mourned and attended their funerals and then the families were left to heal.
We hear countless stories in the news
and in our personal lives that we need to heal from. It becomes even more
challenging when we struggle to understand why it happened. What was God's
purpose in all of this.
After Job goes through the most horrendous
crisis of his lifetime, in the final chapter, he humbles himself and
acknowledges the greatness of God. Job admits he did not understand it all. He
proclaims God's doing as "too wonderful for me". Job
acknowledges God's holy and perfect plan in comparison to man's foolish plan,
however genius and logical it may seem.
During Job's time of testing, he needed
healing. God in His wisdom knew what awaited Job at the end of his
trail. Even though Job understood none of it, God carried him through
this time and gave him twice as much as he had before. The final verses
of Ch 42 paint a beautiful picture of wealth, family, and generations to
follow. Job Healed. Healing came due to his praise for God, despite
the evil God allowed upon him. "Job died, old and full of days"
(v.17).
PRAYER
Father, I'm in need of
your healing touch. There are things happening around me that I can't
make sense of. Thank you Father for being so wonderful and carrying me
through these times. Heal me Father and bring me to better days a head. Amen
