7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is to your
advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come
to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity- just as much God as the Father and the Son. According to Jesus, one of the purposes of the Spirit was to seek and save the lost by convincing them of certain things:
First, when we knowingly or unknowingly commit sins, the Spirit makes us uncomfortable with our wrong doings.
Second, the Spirit makes us to feel the need of God's righteousness in our lives.
Lastly the Spirit makes us sense the urgency to make decisions because of the coming Judgment Day
One of the primary responsibilities of God's spirit is convicting people of their sins and making them aware of the importance of repenting their sins and witnessing their Savior Jesus Christ to those who haven't heard about Jesus or do not follow Him. Holy Spirit can give us the opportunity to witness by word or by action. We need to die to self and be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
When we obey Jesus Christ by repenting our sins and carefully observing God's commandments, we have the promise that we shall receive the “Gift of the Holy Spirit”. In Ephesians we are told that Lord's Holy Spirit is a mark of God's ownership of us.
We read in Acts 4 that Peter and John were arrested,beaten and taken into custody because they “taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead”. But that did not stop them from repeating what they did. They were warned not to preach about Jesus again. They returned to the Church to pray. The place they were meeting was shaken. And they were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. (Acts 4:31) The Holy Spirit will not only give us boldness but also can show us creative ways to witness.
Each and every follower of Jesus Christ is entitled to receive unique gifts from the Holy Spirit and these gifts are to be used for the edification of Jesus Christ and for His ministry. Many a time we are so immersed in our own selfish thoughts and actions that we forget or fail to unwrap the spiritual gifts from the Holy Spirit. Trusting wholeheartedly in Jesus Christ will help us to feel the presence of the Holy Spirit in us and if we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us in our lives, we will be filled with the power and boldness to overcome the most difficult and tempting situations in our lives.

PRAYER
Almighty Lord, we humbly submit ourselves as sinners before you.
Cleanse our hearts and minds. You are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords;
pardon our sins and fill us with your Holy Spirit. Amen
