Genesis 28:10-22

15 Know that I am with you and will keep you wherever you
go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have
done what I have promised you.”
We all have heard the story of Jacob’s dream a thousand times, where he saw a ladder resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven and angels of God ascending and descending. "13 And the Lord stood beside him".
We all have heard the story of Jacob’s dream a thousand times, where he saw a ladder resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven and angels of God ascending and descending. "13 And the Lord stood beside him".
This
passage should be a reminder to all of us that the Lord our God, whom we serve,
will watch over us wherever we go and will never leave us. The question is
whether we are with Him and for Him. Though He never leaves us, we can
essentially “leave” Him by ignoring Him. When our relationship with God feels
distant, we know where the problem lies. It is we who have distanced
ourselves from God. God made promises to Jacob in his dream; we
must remember God is a promise keeper. In Isaiah 41:10 it says, “So do not
fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will
strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
In our daily lives, we go through obstacles we may not be able to overcome on
our own, but we have a loving God who picks us up when we fall down. He is our
all in all.
Genesis
28:15 is a perfect verse for when we might be feeling alone or afraid. The
verse reminds us that God is always with us. God will guide us through
whatever we are facing. He will help us to understand whatever is confusing-
we just need to ask Him. Even though, Jacob was a man who betrayed his brother
and lied to his father, God still cared for Jacob. Stormie Omartian said, “When
we receive Jesus, we are immediately released from the penalty for our past
mistakes.”
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we
thank You Lord for watching over us and keeping Your promises. Help us daily to
be reminded how great You are and fill our hearts with Your love. In the name
of Jesus we pray. Amen.
