“This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” v. 19b

Jesus was having His “Last Supper” with His 12 disciples in an upper room in Jerusalem before His crucifixion. This took place after Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The “Last Supper” is commemorated by Christians every year on Maundy Thursday during the Passion Week. The “Last Supper” provides the scriptural basis for the Eucharist, the Christian Sacrament in which Jesus’ last meal with His disciples, according to the Gospels , is commemorated by the consecration of the bread and the cup. This Sacrament is also known as Holy Communion, Holy Qurbana or The Lord’s Supper by different denominations.
I. THE PREPARATIONS:
Like any other festival, The Feast of the Unleavened Bread called 'the Passover' required preparation. Jesus sent Peter and John, his two most trusted disciples, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”v8. Being obedient to Jesus’ instructions enabled them to make the necessary preparations without hassle.
2. THE RESPONSE OF THE HOUSE OWNER
The positive and cheerful attitude of the house owner , providing or giving up His best for Jesus, a furnished upper room  to prepare the Passover is noteworthy. The disciples had found things just as Jesus had told them and prepared the Passover. V13.
3.  INSTITUTION Of LORD’S SUPPER:
Luke mentions that “the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed” on the Feast of the Unleavened Bread and refers to Jesus as the Passover lamb. v7. Jesus was crucified around the time that the Passover lamb was slain. It was God’s providential plan to sacrifice the true Lamb of God for the redemption of the world as opposed to the animal sacrifices we see in the Old Testament for atonement. (Hebrews 10:4). 14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. (Hebrews 10:14.)
Jesus institutes the Lord's Supper by His eternal words ,” do this in remembrance of Me” v19.
Partaking in the bread and cup provides us an opportunity to remember what our heavenly Father expects from His children .  It also helps us to commune with our Lord and with other believers in God’s family and receive innumerable grace. So today Jesus is inviting all of us to partake in this Holy Qurbana. Let us  solemnly and gratefully .

PRAYER

Lord, make us worthy to partake in the Holy Qurbana for the healing of our body and soul. Amen
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
"So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 11:27
