Fall as the violation of the purpose of creation

Mrs. Bindu L. Abraham

St. James MTC, NY

45 The good person out of the good treasure of the heart produces good, and the evil person out of evil treasure produces evil; for it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks.

Today, we often say things and act without thinking. Sometimes these words or actions give us joy but other times sadness as we regret what we said or did. It is very important for us to realize what is truly important.

The proceeding verses says "each tree is known by its own fruit". So, what we focus our thoughts, attention, and concerns on, is the type of person that we will prove to be. Either we will prove to be bad or good.

The fruit that we produce can only be revealed by our words and actions, and deeds. If inside we are a hateful person, a schemer, a slanderer we will be inclined to lie, cheat, steal, and murder, and will prove to be a bad person.

If inside we are a loving person, who is kind and merciful, we will be caring, forgiving, generous, and humble, and will prove to be a good person. We cannot hide the person that we are on the inside, because our actions (fruit) will show what is in our hearts (treasure).

The point Jesus was trying to make was that we should observe all the things He is teaching us. Look at the Sermon on the Mount: Matthew 5. As well as the two Greatest commandments: "Love God with our whole heart, soul, and mind". And to "Love your neighbor as yourself" (Matt 22:37) .

When the reigning love of GOD and Christ lives in our heart, it will make us a good person.  Therefore the deeds we do will bring forth good treasures.

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to be the person who You want us to be.  Let the goodness of our hearts be shown through our deeds. In this way, we can spread Your gospel around.  In Your precious name, we pray. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer". Psalm 19:14
