Fall as the Violation of the Purpose Creation

Genesis 3: 1-13

13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent tricked me, and I ate.”

How easy is it for us to fall into temptation? How often do we deviate from God’s calling for us? In our daily lives, we need to stand firm in our faith and promote Christian morals in our thoughts and actions, regardless of the pressures we are faced with. As Charles Stanley says, “Too many Christians have a commitment of convenience. They'll stay faithful as long as it's safe and doesn't involve risk, rejection, or criticism. Instead of standing alone in the face of challenge or temptation, they check to see which way their friends are going.” God wants us to be leaders and share His word with others. Therefore, it is our responsibility to avoid worldly temptations and desires and focus on storing up treasures in heaven by guiding others to stay on God’s holy and righteous path.

Genesis 3: 1-13 describes the events of the serpent deceiving Eve by telling her to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge. Eve then shared the fruit with Adam and both of their eyes were opened and they realized they were naked. Once they heard God walking in the garden, they hid from Him because they were ashamed. This represents how when we do not follow God’s commandments, we hide ourselves from Him. Adam and Eve were able to enjoy the luxury of the garden until they disobeyed God’s commands, in which they deviated from the purpose that they were given. As the serpent says in verse 5, “For God knows that when you eat from it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” When we try to act as though we are in control of our lives, we push ourselves farther away from Him. Therefore, we must give everything that we have to God and use ourselves to glorify Him in everything that we do. We need to turn to Him to receive strength to resist earthly temptations, which will only cause us to fall and move farther away from God’s true purpose for us in this world.

PRAYER

Almighty God, give us the strength to resist the temptations of the sinful world we live in. Allow us to lead a life according to Your steadfast love and mercy and help us to glorify You in everything that we do. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” (Matthew 26:41)
