The
Accepting Christ
Sam Thomas

12 But to all who received him, who believed in his name,
he gave power to become children of God,
God has created man in His own
image but sin separated man from the presence of God. In the Old Testament we
can see that God sent many prophets to bridge the gap between man and God.
God loves us so much that He wants us to know Him and spend eternity with
Him. So He reveals His love towards mankind by sending His own son to be a
sacrifice to remove the gap. That we see in John 3:16, God so loved the
world that He gave His only son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish
but have an everlasting life.
Every
human born in the universe will die and that is physical birth and death. When
we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, we will have the born-again
experience and that is the spiritual birth. In John 3:3, Jesus said to
Nicodemus , "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God
unless they are born again." Spiritual birth assures eternal/everlasting
life. Spiritual death separates us from God for ever.
God
has a great plan for our salvation and that is through Jesus Christ. We often
justify ourselves with our good works but God knows our true intentions, so He
made salvation free by grace so that we cannot boast about our salvation.
Initially we have to do two things, we have to realize that we are sinners and
that Lord Jesus Christ paid the penalty for our sins on the cross of Calvary.
He took all the sins of the world on Himself on the cross and bought us out of
slavery to sin and death. The only condition is that we believe in Him.
If you declare with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart
that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. -Rom 10:9.
As we are meditating on the crucifixion and resurrection of our Savior
during this Lent season, let us be sure about our eternal inheritance. Rev
3:20 says, "here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hear my
voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and
they with me."
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank You for dying for us on the cross for our sins so
that we could receive eternal life. We believe that You can give
us the power to change and boldly witness the gospel in our lives. Thank You
for forgiving us. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses,
let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.
And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. –Hebrews 12:1
