Preparing the Way for Christ
Hebrews 4:1-13
Vs. 13 And before him no creature is hidden, but all are
naked and laid bare to the eyes of the one to whom we must render an
account.
We are living in a fast paced
world where people aim to become doctors, engineers, businessmen and so
on…But chapter 4 from the book of Hebrews tells us that our aim in life
must be to enter God's rest and joyfully spend eternity in his restful
fellowship. To enter this great and joyful rest we must trust God. The
focus of our trust must be built on Word of God, the good news, and the
promises of God. This is how faith begins to grow. Finally, we must be
diligent, attentive, considerate, and caring to believe the promises of
God. On the other hand, unbelief is failure to trust God’s
promises. Israel set the bad example by not entering into the
Promised Land because of "disobedience". Unbelief leads to
willful "disobedience". Our hearts become unbelieving when we
are deceived by sin through our thoughts and intentions that are not God
willing. We can escape this deceit of sin through our only hope—God’s
Word.
God’s word is alive, life giving, fulfilling His purpose for
us, revealing and pronouncing judgment not only on our actions, but also
on our thoughts, inner desires and intentions. The Word of God sees what
no man can ever see and lays bare the conscience. Every man will be held
accountable before God for his every action, every thought, every motive,
and every desire. God’s word is the means of refreshing, restoring and
revealing our desperate situation, and the way of leading to repentance
and forgiveness.
God's offer must be accepted today, as there is no assurance
that we will have another day. Today is the day of salvation that is
offered to us freely by God’s grace. Ultimately the take away message is
to turn away from the deceptive promises of sin, and trust in the
everlasting, consistent, truthful promises of God.
PRAYER
Dear lord, help us continually to listen to your word
and believe in your promises. Keep us away from the deceitful sin and
grow in faith daily. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
’We have been called to enter God’s rest and attain
salvation”.
