Noah walked with God
Genesis 6:1-13
Vs 8 - But Noah found favor in the eyes of God
I have heard the story of a disobedient boy who used to do the opposite of what he was asked for. Once the family went for an outing. They reached the top of a hill and the boy started running towards the edge of the hill which was dangerously steep. The parents panicked at first. Then his dad called out to him. ‘Son! Run!’ The boy suddenly stopped. The dad caught up with him and held him safely. Can the boy’s behavior be compared to that of the people of Noah’s time or our own time?
When God created the world, He saw that it was good. Of course God can create nothing but good, for God is good. The free will that God gave man caused him the Fall. But God foresaw this and promised Redemption of man through the offspring of a woman who would crush Satan’s head. To prevent this Satan has been messing with the offspring of man ever since. In the passage given today we see a method Satan used to pollute the genetic pool of mankind with Satanic corruption.
“The Savior could not be born of a demon possessed mother. So if Satan could succeed in infecting the entire race, the deliverer could not come.” (Boice commentary).
Since the fall every human being was under the death sentence. But God had His plan of Redemption. God said to Noah that He decided to make a clean sweep,(v.13)and bring forth a new generation through Noah.
Noah’s days were of incredible achievement. So is today’s world. Our thought life is constantly being molded and shaped by the world. The Spirit of God had been seeking and speaking to the hearts of Noah’s generation, but their hearts were like stone. Our hearts too are getting dull to the calling of the Holy Spirit. Jesus linked the days of Noah with the days of Lot and the days of the Son of Man. (Luke 17: 26-30). God destroyed Noah’s world with a flood, and Sodom and Gomorrah with fire and brimstone. God had to judge sin. So Jesus came to be judged for our sins on the cross.
All that God does is for the benefit of His children. God is a Redeeming God. It is the enemy who destroys and it is our disobedience that brings destruction. God is a Sovereign God who reigns supreme. No one can thwart His plan. His Grace is overwhelming. His plans for us are not to harm us but to prosper us.

PRAYER
Lord God, you are our Creator and Redeemer. You are always working in us and through us to redeem the world. Help us to be totally submitted to you to do your will. Amen.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
How is our life different from others? Are we walking with God? Does God like what He sees in us?
