St. John 4:16-26
v.24: “God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
This is a portion of the passage that is famous to all of us, Jesus talks to the Samaritan woman at the well. Jesus was one who did not care about social constructs that was set by the culture of whom one should and should not talk to or interact with. Much surprise to the Samaritan woman, we see Jesus took time to not only have a conversation, but to spend more time with her by requesting water, to drink it and interact with her. The time Jesus was willing to stop and interact was the opportunity for the woman to know that the truth of the Gospel is available to a Samaritan as herself. Jesus enabled her to know that He knows her more than she knows herself, He had her understand her wrong ways of life and to also seek and submit to the true living God.
This allows us to reflect and ask ourselves, how many opportunities have been given to us to stop and have simple conversations with people and grow to understand each other, and from there reveal Christ as the One who is working in us? Another thing we should think about is our meals that we have with our family. Now with technology advancing, person to person interactions are uncomfortable because virtual space is the new comfortable. Do we take for granted the time we can eat and drink with our family and friends and spend the time nourishing our bodies with also the nourishment of conversations? Having a meal with others is the time of celebration and feasting, but are we celebrating faith with our meals? The time God gives as proven in this passage is a time of enlightenment and promotion of love and mercy. It should be applied to our lives as opportunities to live out the preaching of God’s love.

PRAYER
Triune God, guide us to understand Your willingness to take time to extend the love and to heal the least and the last. Guide us to also value the time we have with others and celebrate Your faithfulness. In Christ’s name, Amen.
