Our Lord is Coming
John 14:1-7
v1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.”
We live in a world with lots of problems, always worried about something or the other. As Jesus said the above verse, He himself was going through a big crisis in his life. He very well knew that He was going to be crucified. But in the midst of all that he was comforting his disciples who were looking up to him. He was consoling and assuring them that he would always be with them. We have a hope and healing promised to us this advent season through Jesus.
In this passage we can see Jesus being portrayed in 3 ways to his disciples and also to us:
- Jesus as a Comforter (John 14:1)
- Jesus as an Assurance (John 14: 2-4)
- Jesus as the Reedemer (John 14: 5-7)
Jesus died for us on the cross to redeem us from our sins. Even though we have sinned and gone astray, Jesus affirms that he still loves us. He is the way, the truth and the life. We have access to Our heavenly father through Jesus.
May this advent season be a reminder for us about this precious gift that our heavenly Father has gifted us-Emmanuel-God is with us.
PRAYER
Dear Lord thank you for your comforting presence in our lives. Amen.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
The presence of Jesus with us is our comfort and confidence.
