 HEALING THROUGH WORSHIP

ROMANS 12:1-8
Vs 1 B “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice holy and pleasing to God “

Cures come from modes totally different from what we expect and imagine. Cure and healing can be through worship, through the word of God, by the touch of the Master Healer and of course through prayer and intercession. To worship God is to recognize His worthiness and to acknowledge in all appropriate ways the blessings we have enjoyed in the world. There is fellowship, healing, consoling, strengthening the confidence, assurance of eternity and a total new outlook of the world we live in through worship. Scripture views the glorifying of God as a sixfold activity praising God for all that he is and all his achievements, thanking for his gifts and goodness to us, asking him to meet ours and other’s needs, offering him our services, our gifts and ourselves as a whole. It also involves hearing the word of God and sharing the good news we heard with others. Worship enables us restoration of peace and comfort to the body, soul and spirit of the troubled individual. We who belong to Christ will be seated with him in heavenlies and through worship we acquire everything He has accomplished for us by the sacrificial death on the cross. Psalm 108:3 says, “I will give thanks unto thee O Jehovah among the people and I will sing praises unto them among the nations.’
Here in today’s portion for meditation Paul is urging the believers in Rome to offer themselves as a living sacrifice to God and that is what God means a true worship. How do we offer ourselves as a living sacrifice? God has extended His abundant mercy to us and He in turn wants only our committed faith and obedience. Our faith shall be reflective of our faithfulness to God. Paul is advising not to let sin reign in our perishable body, and we shall not be a slave to the lusts and evils of the world. A living sacrifice is a life dedicated which is a life committed  to the will of God and obey His commandments. Paul further exhorts them to not allow themselves to be conformed to this world. The world we live has all its glitters and sins that can attract and trap any believer easily. But Paul is warning us to be careful and submit ourselves as clean offerings for worthy of worship. We are the temple of God and this temple cannot be destroyed by the malice and sins of this world. Let us be transformed by the Holy spirit to be good instruments and shining witnesses for Him in this world. Let us not engage in unhealthy practices but be godlier in all our actions. Let this lent season be a time of transformation and cleansing.

PRAYER
Lord Our God allow us to worship you with our hearts open to receive the fulness of your grace. allow us to sacrifice our bodies as a living testament to you and experience the healing that come through a sincere worship. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
“Let the worldly minds the world pursue. It has no charms for me. Once I admired its trifles too. But Grace has set me free.”
