          Sanctification Of the Church

Hebrew 9:11-23
V20 – “This is the Blood of the covenant that God commanded for you.”

The emphasis in Hebrews 9 and 10 is on the cleansing efficacy of the blood of Jesus Christ. The author Hebrews draws a strong contrast between the sacrifices of the old covenant Levitical system with its animals and the perfect self-sacrifice of Christ. Jesus was undefiled, morally perfect, who of His own volition made the decision to die in the place of the sinner. The image we draw from this passage is about the Sacrificial blood of Christ to bring Sanctification.

The blood of Christ is so much powerful. The sacrifices in the Old Testament showed that it only freed the outward man from ceremonial uncleanness, but it was Christ who offered himself without any sinful stain in his nature or life. It cleanses the guiltiest conscious from dead or deadly works, to serve the living God. God is merciful and forgiving. He created us and loved us so much! So, bring all your sins or guilt you are facing to God. Christ’s blood is so powerful and without blemish to forgive and purify us from our unrighteous behavior. The solemn transactions between God and man are sometimes called a covenant. Christ had to die for the new covenant to be put into effect. Under the old covenant, the blood of bulls and goats was offered in place of the death the Israelites deserved. Now, in offering his righteous blood, Christ has suffered the death penalty that rightly is ours. Christ died, not only to obtain the blessings of salvation for us but to give power to the disposal of them. The shedding of the blood of Jesus is the basis for cleansing and reconciliation. We can read here that, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. The atoning sacrifice of Christ opened Heaven up to us, and we are permitted to enter the gates of heaven. The sacrifice of Christ is the perfect sacrifice. Christ came to earth to die, once for all, and when He comes again, it will not be as a sacrifice. Rather, it will be to finalize God's salvation for those who accept Christ and the judgment of all those who do not. This one sacrifice of Christ delivered us from our sins and made us righteous, holy, and happy. Nothing except the atoning sacrifice of Christ can save us from eternal punishment or deliver a sinner from being condemned on the day of judgment. Sanctification was accomplished through Calvary to redeem us from our sins. Let us dedicate ourselves to the treasure of God as Jesus dedicated himself as both the high priest and the sacrificial object.

Prayer
Almighty God, we thank you for the Sacrificial Blood of yours that was shed on Calvary for our Sanctification. Help us to intake the characteristics of innocence of a newborn in our lives. Guide us to purify our lives by washing away not just our outward defilement but the inner defilement too. In the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.
