Worship- Which Gives Perfection to Personhood
Psalms 16Today’s Bible verse talks about keeping your eyes on the Lord. You need to keep your eyes on God if you want to have a solid relationship with Him. Keeping our eyes on God makes a huge difference in our life. When we stay focused on God and His goodness, we see Him move in big ways and we can be firm in our faith.
We’re encouraged to wake up and read the Word daily as Christians; it prepares us for the day. To me, it’s like nourishment, my daily bread.
God knows that I need his assurance. I know he will never leave me, which is his promise to all people. Psalm 16 reminds us that God is right in the thick of it with us. Because of this, we will not be shaken.
David, a man after God’s own heart, prays because he knows and trusts that God will answer. God listens when we pray. God cares about what we care about. We know this is true by God’s ultimate sacrifice; He gave us his most precious Son. God is sovereign. He is up above, forever watching us here on earth. Psalm 16 tells us, He is also at our right hand. He is with us and also goes before us in all things.
I have set the LORD always before me. This speaks of a decision David made to put God first in his life. He determined that God would always be his focus, his perspective. When we focus our eyes and think of Him, we have peace. We have joy. We will not be shaken. Jesus did this perfectly; He was always in the intimate presence of His Father.
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. This was the result of David’s decision to put God first. There was security in David’s life that would not have otherwise existed.
He is our strength. When we keep our eyes focused on the Lord, He is always with us. Regardless of the battles, we may be facing, He is our strength. With Him by our side, we will not be shaken. We can rest in complete assurance that He is with us in all situations. Even in our thought life.
He gives us joy and He is faithful. We will have joy and peace, and we can rest when our eyes are focused on God. He takes delight in us and views us as His perfect and most beautiful creation. He is faithful to us and is always with us. The answer is simply by putting your focus on Him always.
He gives us direction and all eternal pleasures! What a way to end this passage! By keeping our eyes on the Lord, we can know the path of life; we are filled with joy and His eternal pleasures!
God loves his children. So much that he provided a way for us to someday live with him forever. God will never be tired of hearing our prayers. He tells us we can come boldly to his throne of grace and obtain mercy when we need it.
The lyrics by Helen H. Lemmel reminds us:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of this glory and grace.
Prayer
Help us to turn our eyes and focus on Jesus to worship you. Help us to remember the Lord’s protection and love for us daily. We ask all this in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ
Thought for the Day
Do we focus and worship God daily with perfection?
