Messiah: Fulfillment of the promise.
Galatians 4: 1-7In today’s devotion, we will turn to Galatians Chapter 4 verses 1-7. This bible portion focuses on being God’s heir. We are free from slavery and under God’s care. Through these verses, we can understand that although we were originally slaves, God later sent His one and only Son to free us from slavery and took us under His wings. Verse six states “Because you are His sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” We are removed from the bondage, and we are called sons and daughters of Christ and with that, we are considered heirs of God. It is our responsibility as Christians, to live a life that is pleasing to God. God loves each one of His children, despite race, ethnicity, or background. As heirs of Christ, we are to set good examples to future generations. In today’s day, it is very easy to fall away from walking in a path that is pleasing to God; but we are to support one another to live a life that will not disappoint God. We are to be stewards of Christ, taking care of one another. Despite the circumstances, we should remember that we have a loving Father waiting for us to return to Him with His arms wide open. We have a forgiving and merciful God who wants us to come back to Him. Each one of us our chosen to be God’s children.
As youth, we are faced with challenges and temptations in our every day life; this can be at school, work, home, etc. We should support one another to live a life that is pleasing to God. We should show the younger generations how to stay courageous and brave in a world that is filled with temptations. It is important to remind ourselves, that we are God’s chosen people and we need to live accordingly to His will.
Prayer
Father God, we thank you for freeing us from slavery and taking us as your children. We ask that you give us the strength we need to say no in circumstances that would upset you. Fill us with the wisdom and knowledge we need to overcome trials and temptations. Help us to remember and understand the love you have for us. Amen.
