Proverbs 3 verses 23-35

“All-powerful and the living God, when Abraham left his own land and departed from his own people, you kept him safe all through his life journey. Protect us, and walk by our side by being our companion, strength and refuge in every situation in our life. Make us ever mindful that heaven is our true home and help us to persevere to follow the path to heaven. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord”
                                                                                                                                           Amen

Jesus rose from the dead, and for this reason his death is like no other martyr. His resurrection proves that grave is not our final destination and accepting the resurrection power of Jesus can help us to live a life that overcomes difficulties and death even to this day. Proverbs 3: verse 24 says “If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet” this verse reminds us of Jesus in Mark chapter 4 verses 35–41: asleep at the foot of the boat while the disciples were panicking in the storm because he walked in wisdom, and trusted his father, so he was able to sleep soundly while others panicked. When we trust in God unconditionally, it becomes a matter of confidence, not in self, weapons and security systems, but in the lord, who is our refuge at all times.
“Do not be afraid of sudden terror or of the ruin of the wicked, when it comes, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught” (Proverbs 3: 25–26). Peter had the promise of Jesus that he had prayed for him not to fail in the face of adversity (Luke 22:32), and we can face our difficulties with the same confidence. Jesus faced his oppressors with great confidence (John 18:1–9), and if we have the same wisdom, then we can be confident that God is on our side when we feel overwhelmed, and burdened by all the pressures of life like the demands put on us on a daily basis, the expectations of others, or our health issues. When we feel like the world has been turned upside down, by mass shootings, hate crimes, cheating scandals, floods, tornadoes, and fires; there stands Jesus, promising, to live confidently in the face of tribulations because he has overcome the world (John 16:33).
“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it. Do not say to your neighbor, ‘Go, and come again, tomorrow I will give it when you have it with you” (Proverbs 3: 27–28). This verse emphasizes the fact as to how we should treat our neighbors in a way that is both honorable and helpful. In other words, we can say that a wise person is caring compassionate and handles his neighbors with integrity. This fact is corroborated in (1John 3:16-18) where we see the ultimate expression of God's love which describes the contrast between hate and how love ought to be seen in the life of a Christian believer. Proverbs 3:29 says “Do not plan evil against your neighbor, who dwells trustingly beside you”. The person with wisdom will not take advantage of others but guards them. People who live together in a community should be able to trust each other. John 15:13 has the same meaning which states that “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).
Proverbs 3 verse 30 says that “Do not contend with a man for no reason, when he has done you no harm.” The person with wisdom is not quarrelsome because they are secure and do not need to prove their worth to any one as they are already worthy in the eyes of their lord. This is particularly true in today’s modern world where people are trying to prove their importance and worth by exerting themselves and indulging deeply in social media platforms to get attention from other by showing off their , riches and priced possessions to prove their worth. But this behavior has created a society filled with insecure people. Proverbs 3: 31-32 says that “Do not envy a man of violence and do not choose any of his ways, for the devious person is an abomination to the lord, but the upright are in his confidence.” This proverb makes us realize the fact that there is an attraction to those who use power to get that they want. In the modern world there is a tendency to follow the celebrities, the athletes and their ideologies blindly even if they are godless and seemingly arrogant.
Finally Proverbs 3: 33–35 says that “The lords’ curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the dwelling of the righteous. Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he gives favor. The wise will inherit honor, but fools get disgrace.” This verse implies that if we want God’s grace, favor or blessing on our lives and on our homes then we must be righteous. Our home can be an oasis, if the people who dwell in there are godly. But we must start early to have a godly home. In conclusion it is a fact that Jesus Christ proved himself by overcoming the world and even death itself.  And whether we realize it or not, he has been there with us on our journey of life.  Because if we think about our life, about all our blessings, about a time we found the strength we did not know we had or when we experienced peace that passes all understanding, was the times when Jesus cared and blessed us with his abundant and unconditional love. Seek God’s approval, in every journey you take and apply the teachings of Proverbs chapter 3 at your workplace, schools, college campuses, social media platforms, and do not be tempted to follow and idolize godless people around you.
                                                                                                                     Amen

                                Prayer
