Exodus 40:34 – 38
The Glory of the Lord

34 Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. 35 Moses could not enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.
36 In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out; 37 but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out—until the day it lifted. 38 So the cloud of the Lord was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the Israelites during all their travels.

As I read through this scripture passage, I was reminded God’s unconditional love for us and how He reaches out to His people, no matter how many times we turn away from Him. Through the Bible, God reached out to communicate with His people. In the Garden of Eden, God spoke with Adam and Eve on how to live there. Similarly, when God was going to flood the earth because of the evil in man He reached out to Noah to save His people. There are many more such instances that followed. God’s tangible presence was with His people. In this specific scripture His tangible presence was a cloud that would cover the Tabernacle and His Glory would fill it. This cloud of the Lord was over the tabernacle by day and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of his people during all their travels.
And the New Testament in the Book of John, he says in verse 1 “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”. In Verse 14 he says, “The word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.” This was when God sent His Son to be with us. And after He died on the Cross and was resurrected, God the Holy Spirit, was sent to make His dwelling in us, His people.
We serve a God who loves us and wants to talk to us. He wants to walk with us in our daily lives and guide us and provide for the needs that we have. All that we must do is hold on to Him and speak with Him.
The popular hymn, written by Alfred Ackley in 1933 goes this way,
“I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today
I know that He is living, whatever men may say
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer
And just the time I need Him He's always near
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today
He walks with me and talks with me
Along life's narrow way
He lives, He lives, Salvation to impart
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart”
The hymn talks about how Jesus walks with us and talks with us along life’s narrow way. So, if your hearts are heavy or burdened, know that “He is living and wants to hear you, help you and guide you. He will carry you in His arms through your all of your hard times.”

                                Prayer
Gracious and Heavenly Father, I thank you that you love us so unconditionally and you want to walk with us and talk with us in our day to day lives. I pray that you would open our ears to hear your voice and guide us.
In the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus I pray. Amen.
