SING TO THE LORD
St. John 14:14-21
V. 21: "Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by My Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them."
This passage guides us to remember that God promises and He delivers. When Christ says we can ask for anything, we have to still remember that we should ask in His name, and by doing so, we are to humbly call to might whatever we ask in Christ's name, it should match with His nature and also His will. Therefore asking calls us to first completely surrender to Him. If our walk with God is sincere, whatever we ask would align with God's purpose.
God promises that we, as children of God are not left alone to fight and go about life by ourselves. Holy Spirit is our comforter, counsel, encourager, and advocate. The Holy Spirit is powerful and is by our side always. It guides us to remember that although the world may leave us, God is always present with us, He will never leave us nor forsake us. in v.18, when Christ said "I will come to you", the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives is proof of that.
In V. 21, We see that as children and followers of God, we show our love to Him through obedience. Why should we obey, it is stemmed from our love for God. Understand how much God loves us and that through Christ's obedience, He was able to lay down His life for us. Likewise, we should dedicate our lives to obedience and submission to Him.
Prayer
Triune God, guide us by Your infinite love to obey and surrender our lives to you. Help us know You are with us, and the Holy Spirit guides us to abide in Your righteousness. To You belong all glory and honor. Amen.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
“I’m not perfect. I’m never going to be. And that’s the great thing about living the Christian life and trying to live by faith, is you’re trying to get better every day. You’re trying to improve.”-Tim Tebow
