Jesus Christ who leads to Wholistic Healing

Luke 5:17-26
ver.20: When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”

Devotion
In this passage, we encounter a captivating story of Jesus' encounter with a paralyzed man, which we have well studied through our Sunday school days. The passage begins with Jesus teaching in a crowded house, surrounded by religious leaders and eager listeners. Friends of a paralyzed man, unable to enter the house through the front door, exhibit remarkable faith by lowering their friend through the roof to bring him before Jesus. We notice that their faith was not limited to their individual needs but extended to the needs of their paralyzed friend. This extraordinary act of faith, determination and trust sets the stage for Jesus' healing power to be revealed.
As we read through this passage, we are able to see the multifaceted nature of healing. Jesus recognizes that true restoration extends beyond physical ailments to encompass our deepest wounds and brokenness. Wholistic healing involves addressing the root causes of our pain, sin, and fractured relationships. Jesus invites us to bring our brokenness before Him, acknowledging our need for restoration in every aspect of our lives.
We also witness the radical approach Jesus takes to healing. Instead of addressing the physical ailment immediately, Jesus starts by addressing the man's spiritual condition. He forgives the man's sins, emphasizing the significance of inner healing and restoration of our relationship with God. Wholistic healing starts from within, as Jesus desires to restore our soul before transforming our bodies.
Before we can experience wholistic healing, we must acknowledge our paralysis—our limitations, brokenness, and the areas of our lives where we feel stuck. Just like the paralyzed man, we may feel helpless, unable to move forward or find true restoration. It is important to remember that Jesus never turns away from our brokenness but invites us to bring it to Him.
We are called to surrender our brokenness entirely to Jesus. We are called to invite Him to work in every area of our lives, trusting that His healing touch can transform us from the inside out. Just as the man's friends lowered him through the roof to reach Jesus, we as a community must be willing to go to great lengths to seek His healing in our lives. May the good Lord bless us through these words.
Prayer
Dear Lord, help us to come to you as individuals as well as communities to receive healing and restoration. Just like the paralysed man and his friends who overcame all barriers and surrendered totally, may we be able to reach out to you and experience wholistic healing and become agents of healing in our communities. Amen

Thought for the Day
Through faith, we can receive forgiveness, physical healing, emotional restoration, and spiritual renewal. Let us approach Jesus with unwavering faith.
