Marriage call and commission
God's Blueprint for Marriage
Eph 5:21-30
When I was preparing for marriage many years back as a seminary student, I did not
realize I was answering a call of God to fulfill His mandate in this world through the
covenant of marriage. As we celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary this year, I realize it has indeed been a Godly call to be a husband and wife to fulfill His great
commission. in His world Someone said marriage goes through various stages. It
starts with a romantic stage then comes the reality stage, followed by the retaliation stage and then the rejection stage. But these stages are often true when we don’t understand the call and the commission
of God for marriage. But the more one understands the call of a husband is to be
Christ like , by which he is willing to even give up his life for his wife, marriage then
moves from the reality stage to a refreshing stage of love and oneness. Such deep
devotion of love is too hard to fight .The call to show Christ-like love is also the mandate of the wife. When both become
“Christ-like” through their love and respect, by understanding their call to submit to
one another, then truly it accomplishes much to fulfill His mission in this world.
unfortunately, many times we understand the word “submit” as a negative word, as to
become subservient to the other. But it is through the submission of Jesus to his
father was the mission of Christ salvation to the world became a reality. The call to
submit is the call to show one’s love in ways that display the power of God in humility,
which often causes even the hardest of human hearts to surrender. This is contrary to
what the world teaches about submission.
This modeling of Jesus to “love and submit” is the call and the commission of every
marriage, by which every child in a Christian home, sees the display of God’s love in
close quarters. Is your marriage a model of Christ’s love and submission? Can your
children understand Christ’s love through your marriage?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help us to be faithful in our marriage covenant which you have ordained since the beginning of time.
May we bring glory and honor to you in all aspects of our lives, especially in our married life. Amen.
Thought for the Day
Today, let us remember that in the garden of companionship, our relationships are divine gifts. Just as God hand picked our partners, may we nurture our marriages with intentionality, forgiveness, and a steadfast commitment to God's design. Let us
strive to see the best in each other, uplift one another, and build our homes on the foundation of love and faith. With every action and word, let us honor the sacredness of our unions and seek God's guidance in every step.
