 Sing to the Lord

Mandate of Mission
(Matthew. 28:16-20)

Devotion
Our God is a God of rhythm. It is said that nature's rhythmic tone is the sound of God's heartbeat. As we know, sound, music, and melody add to the beauty of human life. The Psalmist exhorts us to "Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things" (Psalm 98:1).  In the Bible, singing is a common expression of praise, thanksgiving, and joy. Singing to the Lord is a declaration of God's greatness, love, and faithfulness. It is a reminder of God's marvelous deeds and blessings in our lives. Singing is a universal language that transcends cultures and generations. It gives the ability to evoke emotions, inspire hope, and bring people together.
This passage is generally known as 'the great commission,'' which emphasizes the importance of evangelism, discipleship, and mission. It reminds us that we are entrusted with the responsibility of sharing the good news. I would like to highlight two points.
(1). The Mission of God is inclusive in nature - "Go and make disciples of all nations" is a call to action, to share the Good News of Jesus with others and to help them grow in their faith. This is a universal mission that is very inclusive, accommodating everyone irrespective of color, creed, religion etc. The authority of the mission is a divine one that is initiated by God.  Jesus Christ handed over this authority to the church - you and I (V.18).
(2). Divine presence is the fuel for mission - The promise "I am with you always, to the very end of the age" (v. 20) reminds us that we are not alone in our mission journey. Jesus' presence and guidance is always with us.
How can we communicate the gospel in the present context? Music, the powerful channel of emotion and beauty, is a way through which we can communicate the gospel effectively. Our life should be like a soothing melody. As Francis of Assisi remarked, " we have to preach the gospel always, use the words if necessary." We are called out to be another gospel. Yes, the Fifth gospel through our graceful life.
                                                  Prayer
Lord, may our singing be a reflection of our love for God and a witness to His greatness in our lives. Amen.
