 Freedom in His Truth

John 8:31-47

“If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” John 8:31-32

Devotion
In today’s world, we are constantly surrounded by temptation. To further his agenda of hatred and evil, the devil tries to separate us from our Father and from His truth. Satan cleverly plants seed of doubt in our minds, exploiting our deepest insecurities and preying on our vulnerabilities to make us feel anxious, alone, and confused about what’s true and what’s just devilish fallacy.

Luckily, to help us through the chaos, God provides us with His living word, a definitive guide to truth. The Bible intimately enables us to grow closer to Him and more deeply understand His power. The word of God acts as a shield, preparing us to fight against all the tribulations that inevitably arise. It serves as a foundation upon which we can and should build our thoughts, actions, and intentions.

In John 8:31-32, Jesus explains the importance of knowing, understanding, and living in the truth. When we do so, our identities are aligned to be for His glory, and we are set free: free from the shackles of sin, shame, anxiety, and all the superfluous things of this world. Our hearts and our minds, when rooted in the truth of Jesus Christ, are redeemed and restored back to the Kingdom of God. And it is with this promise that we can live freely in the light of His love, grace, and mercy.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the truth You have presented before us and the power of the freedom it brings. Revive our hearts to gain a deeper understanding of the Living Truth and give us strength to always fight against the desires of this world. In Your Precious Name we pray, Amen

Thought for the Day
As His children, we know God has an elaborate, perfect plan for our lives. Because of this, we don’t need to worry about anything— we are free from it all!
