EDUCATION THAT LEADS TO DIVINE TRUTH

Bible portion:  1 Corinthians 1:18-25

Key Verse: V 19  For it is written, ‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.’

Devotion
Education is a very important tool that helps to shape us. We try to gather information and use it to help us
formulate opinions and make decisions. This passage contrasts wisdom as the world sees it and wisdom
that  comes from above .Paul talks about two groups of people, one seeking signs, and the other wisdom.
However the wisdom  that they seek appears to be the wisdom of the world. The divine wisdom of the proclamation of a crucified Christ is "foolishness to the Gentiles" .
Who could really blame them? At first glance, why would the followers of any belief
system, walk around proclaiming the death of the leader? Yet it is through the foolishness of this very
proclamation, that God decided to “save those who believe”. This concept runs counter to what the world
considers to be wise. This worldly wisdom did not help to them to know God.
We are reminded that indeed that God’s foolishness is wiser than God’s wisdom. It would help for us to
reflect on areas of our lives where worldly wisdom might be influencing your decisions. Are there aspects
where we are placing more trust in human reasoning than in God's revealed truth? Consider how you might adjust your approach to align more closely with the divine wisdom found in the gospel. We should remember that the cross stands as a powerful  symbol of God’s love and wisdom. As we seek to grow in knowledge and understanding, remember that true  wisdom comes through the lens of the cross. Embrace its message of grace and redemption, and let it inform your  perspective. We should pursue Godly wisdom that is rooted in God’s truth rather than mere human knowledge.
We should pray for discernment to recognize and value divine truth. Let the "foolishness" of the gospel
be a guiding light in our quest for understanding.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the wisdom that comes from You. Help me to see beyond the limitations of
worldly wisdom and to embrace the divine truths revealed through the cross of Christ. Teach me to value
Your wisdom above all else and to let it guide my pursuit of knowledge and understanding. Empower me to
live in the light of the cross and to share its message with others. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Thought for the Day
