The proverbial portion has three lessons – the duty, content and the confidence of good parenting. King Solomon in all his wisdom wish to apply all these three lessons through this passage. As parents we must be able to teach, we must teach right things, we must do it confidently. Can we speak as boldly and virtously as Solomon about all the instructions, we have for our children. As mothers and fathers we are not exempted from this privilege and duty
Graduating from high school or getting a college degree are important for the contemporary world, but does not impress God, nor does it help children in their relationship with the wisdom - which is the fear of the Lord. The “ way of wisdom” and “ right paths' are contrary to a liberal arts education. The scope and sequence of today's curriculam does not teach Godly wisdom and true knowledge. It must be taught at home, from very early in a child's life about the heavenly values, right relationship with God and man. Church has indeed a real role in molding children through sunday school and other related biblical instructions. Are we as parents, accountable for imparting the right wisdom and understanding that envisage through the scriptures.
Can we go back and look closely into the life of our children? Are they wise and prudent? Do they hate sin? Are they socially skilled, and are good communicators? Do they know the truth – gospel? Are they able to sove the problem biblically? How interested are they in serving God? If not, like the father in this proverb, are you confident in admonishing the truth. We must be bold, dogmatic and critical, for satan and the world are increasing the efforts to oppose us and destroy the truth. As a responsible parent, can we teach one truth / verse from Bible or proverbs each day, which will soon form a mountain of wisdom. If being carried out everyday, It will only help to receive the God's blessing in our children's success, and is worth for the overall happiness of the family.
