DEVOTION
In Romans 10, the Apostle Paul expresses a deep longing for the Israelites to draw near to the Living God through salvation. His heart's desire is that they would come to know the fullness of God’s grace and attain salvation through faith in Him. Paul, himself an Israelite, acknowledges their zeal for God and their commitment to the commandments laid out in the Torah. However, he notes a critical issue: the Israelites believed that by their works and strict adherence to the law, they could achieve righteousness before God. Paul emphasizes that true righteousness comes not through works, but through faith in Christ
Here, St. Paul reveals the foundational truth of salvation: to be saved, one must confess with their mouth that “Jesus is Lord” and believe in their heart that God raised Him from the dead. Only then are we justified and receive salvation. This truth is powerfully summarized in Romans 10:10, where Paul explains the vital need for believing with the heart and professing with the mouth leads to salvation and redemption through the blood of Christ. Paul further assures us in verse 11 that when we believe in Jesus, we will never be put to shame.
The simplicity of the Gospel message is profound: salvation transforms our lives, bringing us into fellowship with God. Paul reiterates this transformation in 2 Corinthians 5:17, declaring that if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation; the old has passed away, and the new has come. This new life in Christ is miraculous, as God restores and renews us, giving us purpose to live for Him. Through salvation, we are no longer bound to our past but are freed to walk in the light of God's love, fully restored and completely renewed.
