DEVOTION
As Christians who are walking in our faith journey, we are brought into various seasons of our lives where we may face adversity. These seasons are unpredictable. One minute everything is good, but the next moment your faith is being tested. We don't know when these seasons will arise in our lives, but in the midst of our trials we have easy access to peace. Our peace comes from Jesus Christ. He provides a peace that covers all understanding. It is something that mere human beings are unable to understand. But that is the beauty of God! He works in ways beyond our comprehension to orchestrate all things for His glory.
Paul describes peace as being one with our brothers and sisters in Christ. For many of us, this is hard. There are often barriers within us– pride, unforgiveness, fear– that hinders the unity of the Body of Christ. But, in order to truly experience the peace of Christ, we must learn to love those around us. John 13: 35 reads “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” This is a task that we merely cannot do alone. We have to ask God to change our hearts to let go of the pride, to forgive, and to invite peace and love. Paul reminds us that the barrier we have built between others has been destroyed because Jesus took that away when He died on the cross. As we are in this season of joy and happiness, let us remind ourselves that we also have to have peace with those around us.
