God who led us till now

Bible Reading: St. Matthew 11:25-30

Key Verse: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Mt. 11:28)

DEVOTION

A blessed year 2024 is coming to a close. Like every year, it has been filled with pain, happiness, tragedy, natural disasters, financial struggles, and the loss of loved ones. Yet, if we reflect on the whole year, we can see that God has been good to us, caring for us in our most difficult moments. The poem "Footprints in the Sand," reminds that during our tough times in life, God would hold us in His mighty hands.   The unknown poet wrote:
“One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each, I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints; other times there was only one. During the low periods of my life, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said, “You promised me, Lord, that you would walk with me always. Why, when I have needed you most, have you not been there for me?” The Lord replied, “The times when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”
As the poem suggests, during our tough times in life, it was God who was holding us in His mighty hands. The same hands that parted the Red Sea, helped the Israelites win the battle against the Amalekites (Exodus 17:8-13), and made the walls of Jericho fall (Joshua 6:20) and many more mentioned in the Bible
"God who led us till now" means that God has always been with us, guiding and helping us through life. We trust that He’s been faithful up to now, and we believe He will continue to lead us. Matthew 11:25-30 explains, Jesus continues this work of guiding us. He invites us to come to Him if we are tired, struggling, or overwhelmed by life. He promises that He will help us, teach us, and give us rest. Just as God has been faithful in leading us through difficult times, Jesus now invites us to rest in Him and to follow His guidance for a lighter, easier way of living. By following Jesus, we can experience peace and comfort in God’s leadership.

   PRAYER

Dear Lord, Thank You for Your boundless love and wisdom. Thank You for protecting us throughout 2024. If You grant us 2025, help us find peace in Your presence and carry our burdens with Your gentle strength. Amen.
