Sent with a Purpose: Living out the Mission Bible Reading: Luke 10:1-11 Key Verse:   Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves  (Luke 10:3) DEVOTION Today’s passage describes the sending of the seventy (two) with the mission of the Kingdom of God. Here, the gospel writer, through the commissioning words of Jesus, explains what mission is and how to engage in it. The Basic concept regarding mission is that mission is God’s and the church is called to participate in God’s mission with him. It is a translation process, translating the mind of God through the life of missionaries. There is no difference between mission and life of missionaries.   The disciples are sent to the towns and places where Jesus was about to go (v.1).  They are supposed to represent Jesus where they were being sent, i.e., to be the presence of Jesus in the world. It is a process of being the presence of Christ. Sending them two by two points to the importance of togetherness or uni...

Living in Victory Through the Testimony of Christ Bible Reading: 1 John 5:5-12 Key Verse:   "Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God." (1 John 5:5) DEVOTION Victory in life is not merely about achieving external success but stems from self-confidence, identity, and faith. In 1 John 5:5-12, the Apostle John illustrates what it means to experience the victory found in Christ and how God’s testimony secures this triumph. According to John, overcoming the world involves rising above its temptations, distractions, and trials. Those who believe in Jesus as the Son of God are empowered to transcend these challenges. This victory doesn’t mean avoiding struggles but finding assurance in Christ’s decisive victory over sin and death, which grants us the strength to approach life’s trials with courage and peace. The foundation of this victory lies in the testimony of God. John reminds us that God’s testimony about His Son is greate...

A Journey Inspired by Divine Encounter Bible Reading:  Exodus 3:6-10 Key Verse:   “So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” (Exodus 3:10) DEVOTION Exodus 3:6–10, narrates Moses’ encounter with God who disrupts the ordinary to reveal the extraordinary. This encounter redefined Moses’ identity and unfolded God’s redemptive work. The passage challenges us to view God’s interruptions in our lives as opportunities for transformation and mission. God reveals Himself to Moses through the burning bush, an extraordinary sight that interrupts an ordinary day. By identifying as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, He emphasizes His faithfulness through generations. Yet, God doesn’t remain distant; He expresses His deep concern for His people’s suffering, saying, “I have seen the misery of my people... I am concerned about their suffering” (v. 7). This interruption is not just about revealing God’s care; it’s about transforming Moses...

Entering the New Year with Confidence Bible Reading:  Jeremiah 29:11-14 Key Verse:   “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) DEVOTION As we stand at the threshold of a new year, uncertainties may cloud our minds. Yet, God’s assurance through Jeremiah 29:11-14 fills us with hope and confidence. The Israelites, exiled in Babylon, longed for restoration, and God responded with a promise of plans to prosper them, not harm them—a future anchored in hope. This passage reminds us that God’s plans are not always immediate but require trust in His timing. Verse 13 highlights our role: to seek Him wholeheartedly. Entering the new year with confidence begins by aligning our hearts with God’s purposes. God’s promises extend beyond individual prosperity. He desires a relationship where we experience His presence through prayer, fellowship and faithful living. As we see...
