Called to Proclaim: Christ Who Sends for Mission

Bible Reading:  Romans 10:9-17

Key Verse: “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess
your faith and are saved.” Romans 10: 10

DEVOTION

The Apostle Paul, in Romans 10:9-17, reminds us of the practical application and ensuing result of the gospel message. “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (v. 9). This basic truth is not just a message to be embraced personally but one to be shared around.
Paul’s words emphasize the inseparable link between faith and proclamation. Believing in Christ transforms one’s heart, but this faith is expressed through one’s word. We as believers are called to proclaim the gospel, for “how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?” (v. 14).
Jesus, during His earthly ministry, called His disciples not just to follow Him but to be sent out as His witnesses to proclaim the gospel (Matthew 28:19-20). Paul reiterates this commission by emphasizing that faith comes from hearing the message of Christ (v. 17). This affirms that mission is God’s initiative and Christ sends us into the world, equipped with His Word and empowered by His Spirit.
The privilege of proclamation is not limited to priests or evangelists. Every believer is called to be a witness, sharing the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. This is not merely an obligation but a command based on an act of love and obedience to the One who sacrificed his life for us.
Our mission is all around us—our families, workplaces, neighborhoods, and communities. In a world filled with confusion, despair, and brokenness, the gospel offers hope, reconciliation, and eternal life. Like Paul, we are to be unashamed of the gospel, for it is “the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16).
Proclaiming Christ often comes with several challenges—indifference, rejection, or even hostility. Yet, we are encouraged by the promise that His Word will not return void (Isaiah 55:11). Our role is to faithfully sow the seed, trusting God to bring out the fruits in abundance.

   PRAYER

Lord Jesus, You have called us to be Your witnesses, proclaiming the good news of salvation to a world in need of your gospel. Strengthen our faith and equip us with Your Word and Spirit. Give us the boldness, wisdom, and love to share Your message with those around us. May our lives reflect Your glory, and may Your name be proclaimed to the ends of the earth. Amen.

Thought of the day

"Let your heart believe in God's grace and your words boldly proclaim His truth, for in this union of faith and confession lies the path to salvation."
