New life through the Holy Spirit
Bible Reading:  Ezekiel 37:1-14
Ezekiel 37:3 He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”
I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.”
DEVOTION

In the depths of despair and hopelessness, the promise of new life through the Holy Spirit shines brightly, offering hope and restoration. Ezekiel 37:1-14 presents a powerful and vivid vision of the transformative power of God's Spirit, illustrating the renewal and revival that can come to even the most lifeless and desolate situations
Ezekiel, a prophet during the Babylonian exile, was led by the Spirit of the Lord to a valley filled with dry bones. This vision is symbolic of the desolation and hopelessness experienced by the Israelites, who had been scattered and lost their homeland. The valley of dry bones represents their spiritual death, their loss of purpose and identity
In this vision, God poses a question to Ezekiel: "Son of man, can these bones live?" This question challenges the limits of human understanding and invites contemplation of the miraculous potential of God's power. Ezekiel's response, "O Lord God, you know," reflects his recognition of God's sovereignty and omnipotence.
God instructs Ezekiel to prophesy over the bones, saying, "O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord." As Ezekiel obeys, a miraculous transformation begins. The bones come together, forming skeletons, and eventually are covered with flesh and skin. Then God commands Ezekiel to prophesy to the breath, saying, "Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live." Breath enters them, and they come to life, standing on their feet as a vast army.
Through this vision, God promises to restore His people, to bring them back to their land, and to revive their spirits.
Just as Ezekiel prophesied over the dry bones, we are called to proclaim God's word in our lives and the lives of others. Through prayer, worship, and sharing the gospel, we invite the Holy Spirit to breathe life into our desolate situations, bringing hope and renewal.

PRAYER

Our father in heaven, help us to experience this new life through the Holy Spirit and embrace God's promise. we are surrendering our hopelessness to Lord, trusting in Your power to revive and restore, and being open to the transformative work of the Spirit.
