Endurance in faith amid trials
Bible Reading: 1 Thessalonians 3: 1-8
“But Timothy has just now come to us from you and has brought good news about your faith and love…….long to see you.” 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭3‬:‭6‬ ‭

DEVOTION

Persecution has always been associated with Christianity. Church was under persecution from the first century and this is still going on and will continue until Jesus comes back. The only comfort we have is the promise Jesus gave us that He will be with us.
Paul was an itinerary evangelist, and church planter. Whenever he moved on to the next station with his missionary work, he always wondered about the place he left; if the new converts would be swayed by Satan. They were in his thoughts, he was concerned regarding whether they would go back to their old way of life or stick to the new faith in Christ that Paul had introduced them to. Paul had founded the church in Thessalonica during his second missionary trip. He had to leave that place due to persecutions. He often sent his protege Timothy to the places he left, to find out about their spiritual progress. Timothy had returned to Paul from Thessalonica with the joyful update on the Thessalonians that they were holding on to their faith amidst the persecutions. This refreshed Paul’s mind and spirit. In response to Timothy’s report, Paul penned first Thessalonians to encourage them in their trails and tribulations as well as to provide them with spiritual nourishment

PRAYER

Gracious Lord, empower us to hold on to our faith, when we face our trials and persecutions. Amen.
